Materials Manager

Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze production needs to forecast material
requirements, creating purchase orders based upon demand.
- Identify and source reliable supplies, negotiate
pricing and delivery terms, and manage vendor relationships.
- Monitor inventory levels, implement inventory
management systems to minimize stockouts and excess inventory, and
identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Inspect incoming materials to verify quality and
quantity against purchase orders, ensuring compliance with quality
standards.
- Manage material operations in the warehouse including
storage space allocation, material handling, and efficient distribution of
materials to production lines.
- Generate reports on inventory levels, purchasing
activity, and materials costs.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Materials Manager
position, directly responsible for all material management for a Company.
Preferred experience in setting up material management for a new facility.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field of work.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles and
logistics.
- Proficiency with inventory management and material
tracking systems.
- Prior experience in obtaining permits and working with
local and state agencies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating
direct reports, as well as contractors.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical
skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work
within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs.
- Proven leadership and business acumen skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet
deadlines
- Ability to understand any and all safety requirements
and cautions
- Ability to perform the physical labor necessary
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people at all
levels and from various backgrounds.
- APICS Certification
