Responsibilities

  • Solicit and accept orders from customers
  • Evaluate product compatibility and ensure safe handling of product
  • Make value decisions on which orders fit best within the Hazmat’s asset network and prioritize accordingly based upon established profit metrics
  • Identify backhaul opportunities and collaborate with planning to ensure effective utilization of resources
  • Identify spot market opportunities and negotiate rates to maximize profitability
  • Develop productive customer relationships in order to grow the business
  • Identify new customers and sales contacts within their defined product line
  • Manage customer appointment times and equipment pools in order to maximize resource efficiency relating directly to company profitability
  • Solicit targeted orders from customers and 3PL’s within lanes specified by Planners
  • Ensure that revenues are effectively captured and billed among assigned customer base
  • Maintain listing of lost/refused orders
  • Track customer “Service Failures” and evaluate for trends requiring root cause analysis and subsequent corrective action
  • Maintain communications with customers regarding:
  • Revisions to pick up or delivery schedules
  • New rate requests Complaints
  • Equipment needs and requirements
  • Equipment availability
  • Pickup/delivery information
  • Schedule appointments for pickups and deliveries
  • Add necessary accessorial charges on orders for billing purposes
  • Invoice all completed orders for dedicated accounts
  • Collaborate with Sales Department to identify and develop growth opportunities within their assigned region or customer base
  • Clearly understand goals, policies and procedures of the company
  • Support the Accounting Department in billing disputes and inquiries
  • Provide administrative support as needed to other Customer Service Representatives and departments

Requirements

  • Must be able to learn and possess thorough understanding of RCRA, DOT, and FMCSA regulations and demonstrate the ability to interpret them
  • Must gain a working knowledge of chemical compatibility within their defined scope of accountability
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Understanding of relevant computer applications
  • Adapt to customer’s software programs for load acceptance and updates (Manhattan Associates, Bluejay software, EDI)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to prioritize tasks
  • Must be able to take initiative in problem solving and recognizing resources to aid in resolution
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
