General responsibilities of the GIS Specialist include:
  • Converts preliminary and recorded subdivisions, condominiums, easements, plats and other documents by creating and editing the GIS Parcel Fabric in ArcGIS Pro.
  • GIS Specialist creates parcels and makes data changes based on recorded plats and documents within the Vision CAMA system.
  • Conducts research of legal documents to ensure the correct platting of property descriptions.
  • Works toward achieving a one-to-one match between the parcel layer and assessment software.
  • Uses GIS system to produce mapping products such as preliminary plans, base map data, and custom maps and charts.
  • Collects, enters, prepares, and converts data from hard copy to digital form.
  • Creates, updates, and edits departmental GIS data layers.
  • GIS Specialist reviews and manages quality control operations and verification in order to ensure the accuracy of data and system integrity. Researches and analyzes available information in order to assist staff, developers, builders, and others including the general public.
  • Extracts related GIS data for use in project planning and development.
  • Assists in the development and planning of emergency events using GIS and CAD programs and data.
  • Conducts assigned studies.

Performs other related tasks as assigned.
