Clinician I/Mental Health Worker's role involves providing direct mental health services within the Chesapeake Public Schools to support students facing emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. The ideal candidate for the Clinician I/Mental Health Worker's will demonstrate a strong foundation in therapeutic interventions, crisis response, and collaboration with educators and families to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.

LICENSED CLINICIANS MUST POSSESS:
  • A license to practice in the sate of VA as LPC, LCSW, or currently be registered and licensed eligible.
  • A commitment to providing the highest quality of services that meet the City of Chesapeake's C.A.R.E.S. standards ( Courteous, Attentive, Responsive, Empowered, Stewardship)
  • Strong organizational skills to meet documentation deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility in adapting to Federal, State and third party payor mandates
  • Resiliency in working with a diverse range of individuals

Typical Tasks Include:

  • Provides clinical mental health services to children and adolescents in Chesapeake Public Schools
  • Completes initial and annual assessments on individuals seeking clinical services
  • Engages students in individual and group counseling sessions to address issues such as anxiety, depression, social skills, and challenges with adjustment.
  • Develops and implements individualized treatment plans that are person centered, evidence based, and outcomes oriented.
  • Implements age-appropriate therapeutic interventions and coping strategies to support students' mental health and academic engagement
  • Completes appropriate clinical documentation and assures that assessments and correspondence to outside contact are clinically appropriate and competed thoroughly and in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with school staff and community partners to ensure a coordinated and effective response to meeting students mental health and academic needs.
  • Advocates on behalf of the child/adolescent. and their family, in relation to services needed
  • Maintains records for area of responsibility in accordance with departmental, state, and federal regulation, laws, policies, and procedures. processes daily paperwork including but not limited to client progress notes, authorization forms and daily time sheets.
  • Participates in planning meetings designed to enhance service delivery and working relationships with school staff
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
