Payroll/Human Resources Technician I

The Chesapeake Police Department is seeking an entry level Payroll/HR Tech I to enhance our Payroll/HR Team.

Consider using your administrative and accounting talents in supporting the men and women that help keep the Citizens of the City of Chesapeake safe.

A successful candidate for this position will enjoy problem solving and providing excellent customer service while performing the following duties:

  • Assisting personnel with various payroll and human resources-related inquiries.
  • Assisting in the preparation of both weekly and semi-monthly payrolls to include verification of timecard data and distribution of checks.
  • Assisting in the onboarding of new hires and offboarding retirements and terminations of sworn and civilian staff.
  • Gathering and maintaining personnel information and preparing related correspondence.
  • Other duties as assigned.
