Account Specialist I

POLICE ADMINISTRATIVE

The Chesapeake Police Department is seeking an Account Specialist I to enhance our accounting team.

The successful candidate for this position will enjoy learning and providing excellent customer service while performing the following duties:
  • Reviews, verifies and processes invoices for payments and credits.
  • Creates accounts payable, revenue and budget journals.
  • Creates requisitions for the purchase of services, equipment and supplies.
  • Verifies, monitors and reconciles accounts.
  • Coordinates payment of department-wide PCard report.
  • Coordinate the financial portion for department travel including payments, per diem reimbursements and travel voucher reconciliation.
  • Maintain department petty cash and travel petty cash.
  • Deposit miscellaneous accounts receivable.
  • Create and update supplier information in PeopleSoft for the Police Department.
  • Interacts with employees, other departments (Finance, Purchasing, Treasurer), vendors and external agencies to ensure accuracy of accounts and payments.
