Position Summary

Performs entry level (beginner level) procurement work. Work involves planning, organizing, coordinating, and preparing solicitation specifications; preparing procurement documents; and overseeing the maintenance of detailed records of all procurement related activities. Procures Information Technology products and services; complies with current procurement policies and regulations and ensures state procurement procedures are followed.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to highlight their strengths in the following functions:

  • Assists in development of cooperative procurement solicitations, which may include but is not limited to: market research, vendor market engagement events, customer engagement events, internal stakeholder meetings.
  • Assists Procurement Lead in the development, distribution and analysis of DIR customer surveys.
  • Assist in the admin review of vendor responses for completeness and compliance prior to advancing to the next stage.
  • Assists Procurement Lead in monitoring any solicitation related email box.
  • Assists Procurement Lead in creating necessary procurement files.
  • Assists Procurement Lead with cost avoidance (price benchmarking).
  • Prepares formal written correspondence to customers and vendors.
  • Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • A student currently enrolled in a college or university with a major or course work in in business, public administration, accounting, management, or a related field.
  • Must possess academic performance that is considered in good academic standing by college/university standards.

Your Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of Information technology and/or technology procurements knowledge.
  • Demonstrated skill in purchasing, specification development and planning, scheduling, buying, and/or contract administration knowledge.
  • Analytical and critical thinking.

  • Presentation skills.
  • Research and documentation of findings.
  • Adaptability and working in fast-paced environments with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and applicable software necessary to perform work assignments – e.g., word processing, spreadsheets (Excel preferred), email (Outlook preferred), and online meeting software.
