TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Performs administrative duties such as answering telephones, photocopying, distributing incoming mail and correspondence;
  • Types, edits and reviews documents;
  • Attends to the public who come into office for information;
  • Drafts office documents such as letters, reports and presentations as needed; Assists with maintaining waitlists;
  • Assists with various correspondence regarding applicant status; Vacancy reports;
  • Work order line. Answers maintenance work order line, issue work orders and forward to sites, maintains records and prepares necessary reports; Attends appropriate meetings, when necessary;
  • Makes arithmetical computations, compiles and types simple statistical reports; Performs other strategy related tasks as needed.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES SKILLS ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • Good knowledge of office technology and procedures;
  • Good knowledge of business English and arithmetic;
  • Knowledge of the operation and minor maintenance of typewriters and computer terminal equipment;
  • Skill in keyboarding accurately at an acceptable rate of speed;
  • Planning and organization skills; ability to compile data and to prepare simple routine statistical records;
  • Ability to handle routine administrative details;
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public;
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
  • Clerical aptitude; tact and courtesy; physical condition and commensurate with the demands of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or university with a Bachelor's degree;
  • OR
  • B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college or university with an Associate's degree and two (2) years of general clerical experience;
  • OR
  • C. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience as defined in (B)

City of Niagara Falls Residency Requirement: 

  • The Niagara Falls Housing Authority requires that employees be residents of the City of Niagara Falls and maintain their residency during their term of employment.
  • Must be compliant with residency requirement within six months of the date of the initial appointment.
