TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
- Performs
administrative duties such as answering telephones, photocopying, distributing
incoming mail and correspondence;
- Types, edits and
reviews documents;
- Attends to the public
who come into office for information;
- Drafts office
documents such as letters, reports and presentations as needed; Assists with
maintaining waitlists;
- Assists with various
correspondence regarding applicant status; Vacancy reports;
- Work order line.
Answers maintenance work order line, issue work orders and forward to sites,
maintains records and prepares necessary reports; Attends appropriate meetings,
when necessary;
- Makes arithmetical
computations, compiles and types simple statistical reports; Performs other
strategy related tasks as needed.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES SKILLS ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
- Good knowledge of office technology and procedures;
- Good knowledge of business English and arithmetic;
- Knowledge of the operation and minor maintenance of typewriters and computer terminal equipment;
- Skill in keyboarding accurately at an acceptable rate of speed;
- Planning and organization skills; ability to compile data and to prepare simple routine statistical records;
- Ability to handle routine administrative details;
- Ability to deal effectively with the public;
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions;
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Clerical aptitude; tact and courtesy;
physical condition and commensurate with the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A. Graduation from a
regionally accredited or New York State registered four (4) year college or
university with a Bachelor's degree;
- OR
- B. Graduation from a
regionally accredited or New York State registered two (2) year college or
university with an Associate's degree and two (2) years of general clerical
experience;
- OR
- C. Graduation from
high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4)
years of experience as defined in (B)
City of Niagara Falls Residency Requirement:
- The Niagara Falls Housing Authority requires that employees be residents of the City of Niagara Falls and maintain their residency during their term of employment.
- Must be compliant with residency requirement within six months of the date of the initial appointment.
