Chesapeake Public Library (CPL) is seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic part-time Library Assistant II to join our team.
Chesapeake Public library (CPL) has a well-established Outreach department with a dynamic track record of providing quality services for children, teens, and adults.

The candidate must have exemplary communication, customer service and organizational skills. The candidate needs to have the aptitude for working with the public as we deliver new and innovative programming to customers of all ages, demonstrating technology, and promoting literacy. This position requires a commitment to delivering outstanding service to a diverse population promoting library services and resources. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work on a team and independently.

Responsibilities Include:
• Providing outreach services to children, teens, and adults.
• Planning and participating with in-house programs to include the Creative Spaces Media Lab. The Creative Spaces Media Lab contains equipment such as video cameras, a light box, digital cameras, post editing software, Mac Computer, ring lights, Cricut machines, sewing machines and more. A working knowledge of how to use the aforementioned equipment is a plus. Completion of trainings on Niche Academy required.
• Assisting and participating with in-house programs in the Student Success Center. The Student Success Center entails tutoring students in the subject areas of math and reading. Completion of trainings on Niche Academy required.
• Participating in off-site visits to various community partners to include indoor and outdoor programs.
• Work requires balancing several tasks simultaneously.
• Communicating and interacting with community organizations in a professional manner.
• Promoting the services, programs and events of Chesapeake Public Library
• Preparing for outreach services to include displays, craft kits and promotional items.
• Preparation of reports and records; collection maintenance assistance; assistance to patrons with basic technology troubleshooting.
