Summary: 

 

As the Regional Quality Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring safety compliance, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability, while fostering a positive and collaborative work culture. The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic thinking, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive operational excellence. The position will support regional management in developing strategic short- and long-term initiatives that align with Commercial and Corporate Technical Support to ensure all binder products shipped to customers comply with internal Quality Control objectives and industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO, and CSA) to deliver value-added products to our customers.

 

What you’ll be contributing: 

 

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Operational Leadership:
  • Track regional quality performance, conduct root cause analyses of various issues, and lead efforts to develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide technical support for laboratory instrumentation and equipment related to calibration, PMs, and repairs including such equipment as XRF/XRD, C/S analyzers, PSA/s, and CBAs.
  • Proactively seek improvements in product uniformity and consistency through active monitoring of raw feed uniformity, clinker quality and reactivity, off-spec clinker management, and cement performance.
  • Advocate for new technologies and best practices that lead to cost optimization and provide more consistent products to our valued customers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies as well as cement regulatory standards (ASTM, AASHTO and CSA).
  • Facilitate Regional Quality Manager meetings to discuss Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), quality roadmap, and customer support needs.
  • Attend weekly Plant Management meetings to provide support on various initiatives that promote “addressing issues before they become problems”.
  • Team Management:
  • Assist HR with training curriculum (both hands-on and class-based) that develops site staff to enhance their skills and contribute to the success of the operation.
  • Act as mentor to new talents from the Cement Development Engineer (CDC) program and aspiring QC staff in the workplace.
  • Financial Management:
  • Provide support for budgeting and cost tracking related to all aspects of quality control and assurance to ensure cost-effective solutions that provide accurate and timely data.
  • Develop a strategic capital expenditure plan for laboratory instrumentation that also includes all aspects of in-field sample collection and analysis (i.e. samplers and cross-belt analyzers).
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Build and maintain positive relationships cross-functional teams.
  • Works with GTS/MTS to promote the use of best practices.
  • Develop automated Quality KPI Dashboards through collaboration between Commercial and Operations.
  • Present detailed monthly Quality Scorecard to upper management that highlights status of KPIs, relevant action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate monthly calls with each plant to review Quality Control KPI’s that include Commercial and Operational staff.
  • Oversee CRH round robin testing (RRT) program, lab error evaluations at the regional plants, ensure deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Act as a strategic business partner with Sapphire Americas staff to evaluate ARM/AF options through Mix Design Optimization (MDO).
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.  

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc. 
  • Minimum 4 Years - Bachelor's Degree in Science-based discipline (i.e Engineering, Mining, Geology or Chemistry)
  • Minimum 5 Years of experience in mining operations, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement. 
  • Strong understanding of raw materials, laboratory practices and equipment, cement production processes, AF/ARM and quality control.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement initiatives through collaboration with both internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated knowledge of analytical thinking and independent problem-solving mindset.
  • Be able to interpret and present information and technical data in a practical format and articulate to all various levels depending on the audience.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and various Laboratory Data Management System (LDMS) applications.
  • Ability to adapt to change management to address the shifting needs of the organization
  • Domestic travel up to 50%
