Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to jumpstart your Public Health, Exercise Science, Public Administration or Human Resources (HR) career? The City of Chesapeake, Wellness Intern works as part of the HR team and performs individual tasks in support of our employee health and wellness initiatives. The internship will be full of hands-on experiences related to developing events and activities, creating marketing and communication materials, working on a team, and interacting directly with employees in the delivery of wellness services.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Facilitate wellness events such as monthly health huts, healthy food breaks, flu shot clinics, and health screenings.
- Assist with wellness program delivery by researching data, preparing handouts/materials, utilizing scheduling tools and event coordination.
- Market and promote programs through the development of flyers, handouts, emails, newsletters, and website content using Canva and Outlook.
- Provide monthly educational information to City employees aligned with Wellness Calendar.
- Evaluate program initiatives, analyze outcomes, report results, and make recommendations.
- Prepare and deliver a final presentation of program site outcomes and results.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Interns are expected to deliver excellent customer service in a professional and positive manner through effective communication skills, the ability to multitask, providing accurate information on programs and services offered, and addressing problems and complaints in a timely manner to enhance our image and program operation.
