The Chesapeake Police Department is seeking an entry level Payroll/HR Tech I to enhance our Payroll/HR Team.

A successful candidate for this position will enjoy learning and providing excellent customer service while performing the following duties:
- Assisting personnel with various payroll and human resources-related inquiries.
- Assisting in the preparation of both weekly and semi-monthly payrolls to include verification of timecard data and distribution of checks.
- Assisting in the onboarding of new hires and offboarding retirements and terminations of sworn and civilian staff.
- Gathering and maintaining personnel information and preparing related correspondence.
- Other duties as assigned.
