Clinical Intern-Juvenile Services

HS JUVENILE SERVICES

Masters Level Clinical Intern:
Interns will have the opportunity to complete clinical assessments of residents to identify unmanaged mental health related symptoms, a history of mental health diagnoses, and to identify current clinical needs.  Interns will have the opportunity to work independently with residents to identify areas of desired growth and treatment plan related goals.  Interns will have the opportunity to facilitate one on one and group therapy sessions with residents on the unit.  Interns will be expected to communicate with other involved professionals within the detention setting to help identify clinical needs, receive/convey information about medication needs, receive/convey information pertaining to concerning behaviors, suicide risk and safety needs.  Interns will have the opportunity to consult with the facility's Licensed Clinician about diagnostic criteria, clinical needs of the residents, and about the logistics of providing clinical treatment within a 24 hour secured setting.  
 
Bachelors Level Non Clinical Intern:
Interns will have to opportunity to work alongside the facility's Licensed Clinician to complete mental health assessments, suicide screenings, and make decisions about the resident's housing needs.  Interns will have the opportunity to begin completing mental health and suicide screenings with direct support of the Licensed Clinician.  Interns will have the opportunity to practice case management skills including making referrals for needed services, obtaining a release of information, and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings.  Interns will begin to complete necessary documentation related to their direct service work with the residents.
