Job Description Summary 
The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. 

  • Establishes and  manages a comprehensive Quality Control program to ensure proper aggregate, ready mix concrete, and hot-mix asphalt design, testing, production and application.
  • Control daily activities of the Quality Control Department.  Plans daily activities for Quality Control Technicians, supervises their activities, provides technical assistance and training, directs lab activities, administers safety programs, and evaluates employee performance.
  • Assist with and monitor job proposals, to determine process capability and customer needs.
  • Prepares new mix designs when warranted by D.O.T., raw material changes, or customer specifications.
  • Submits job mix formulas to D.O.T. for each project and each F.O.B. customer when required.
  • Determines cold-feed percentages of aggregates to assure proper gradations.
  • Conducts field evaluation and testing of mix.
  • Responsible for testing lab  used for mix analysis (i.e. – supplies, repairs, equipment, maintenance, and housekeeping, and manages a state lab for designing mixes.
  • Maintain professional relationships with specifying agencies.
  • Assists in determining causes and prevention of segregation in asphalt.
  • Establish clear communication channels and relationships with production personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Requirements 
The ideal candidate will: 

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check. 
  • Pass a pre-employment “Fit for Work” physical. 
  • Be able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document. 
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times. 
  • Report to work at the designated start time. 
  • Be able to work long hours when required. 
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. 
  • Have the willingness to work in a team environment and assist co–workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be able to complete safe driver training, possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Be at least age 18 years of age. 

Education/Experience 

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications with the ability to learn new software systems as needed.
  • Be able to communicate appropriately with direct reports, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Be knowledgeable of materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.
  • Be able to read plans and specifications
  • Ability to use decision making skills for cost effective solutions on projects.
  • Related experience in construction field, minimum 5 years (desired)
