The City of Chesapeake is accepting applications for a Summer 2024 internship in Information Technology (IT) providing IT customer service as an intern on our Service Desk Team. The internship will provide valuable experience in the following areas:
  • Answer Service Desk telephone calls.
  • Provide frontline technical assistance to users.
  • Resolve Tier 1 computer issues/problems.
  • Use the Cherwell service desk software ticketing system.
  • Develop skills such as excellent IT customer service, attention to detail, communication, and organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.
The IT Service Desk Intern will be required to conduct a meeting and give a brief presentation on what was learned during the Internship.
Students participating in the Internship Program will be responsible for the following:
  • Providing their own transportation to and from work,
  • Arriving at the work site at the time designated by the worksite supervisor.
  • Performing the tasks assigned by the vocational instructor/coordinator and the worksite supervisor in an efficient manner.
  • Demonstrating honesty, punctuality, courtesy, a cooperative attitude, appropriate dress, and a willingness to learn.
  • Conforming to the guidelines of the internship worksite.
