Library Specialist I - Greenbrier Library-Public Service-Circulation

The Chesapeake Public Library (CPL) seeks an outgoing, energetic and enthusiastic full-time Library Specialist I to manage the Circulation Department of the Greenbrier Library.
CPL promotes a work environment that values civility, cordiality and the unique contributions of each individual staff member. CPL is an evolving and vibrant organization and is instrumental in providing high quality public education and creating the foundation for lifelong learning and strong community.
This position requires exemplary customer service skills and outstanding organizational proficiency. Serves as a member of the Library's management team and represents the Circulation Department in all library system initiatives.
Key responsibilities include overseeing all circulation, public service and cash management functions; selecting, training and evaluating subordinate staff; supervising public service coverage at the main service desk and supervising all financial transactions (fines, fees, lost items, printing requiring debit cards, etc.) and patron financial records.
Assists in the Reference and the Youth & Family Services Departments when needed.
Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, lift, return and retrieve books and materials from all shelving and maneuver a 100 lb. book cart.
Schedule is varied and includes days, evenings and weekend hours.
