Automotive Technician Supervisor

Chesapeake Central Fleet is seeking an experienced technician to join our award winning team.
The successful candidate will supervise 9-12 technicians performing maintenance operations at our Satellite Facility overseeing both automotive and heavy truck technicians.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee activities of personnel performing vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance services to obtain maximum utilization of fleet equipment and to prevent operational delays from occurring in customer departments.
- Coordinates with equipment users and outside vendors/shops on equipment readiness matters.
- Ensure shop personnel are operating safely and in compliance with City of Chesapeake and CFM’s Policies, and all environmental laws and regulations.
- Evaluate & monitor costly repairs on older vehicles and recommend disposal based on repair history, usage and budget constraints. Process all vehicles per CFM policies and schedule, assign, supervise, and monitor those repair activities.
- Review work orders for accuracy, completeness, documentation, and update the Computerized Asset Management System throughout the day.
- Schedule and approve all leave & overtime requests based on shop workload and process timecards for payroll.
- Reviews and prepares documentation for maintenance activities such as repairs completed, parts used, repair cost, and other information.
- Coordinate with customer's supervisors when necessary to move their equipment.
- Evaluate technician's job performance, training, and special certifications, to include submitting requests for new technicians, promotions, demotions and discipline.
- Train and recommend training for technicians on proper maintenance procedures, diagnostic processes and various equipment systems to keep our technicians current with technology.
- Oversees and performs shop or area maintenance such as general clean up around both the interior and exterior of the shop and property.
- Other duties as assigned.
