Brief Description of Duties
- Welcomes
visitors in a professional and friendly manner, determines nature of
business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel
- Coordinates
and prepares patient’s appointments and itinerary
- Checks
insurance eligibility, collects and scan insurance and other required
documents
- New patient
intake including data entry into Medical Software
- Invites
every patient to join the patient portal and includes proper paperwork and
education to the patient
- Patient
check-in and out
- Answers
telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine
information to callers
- Acts as a
liaison between patient and physician
- Prepares
treatment rooms for patient examinations; keeping the rooms neat and clean
and prepares medical instruments or equipment for use
- Escorts
patients to exam room, obtain vitals, updates patient history, reconciles
medications, allergies, and any required quality data; Interviews patients
to obtain patient medical history, determines reasons patient is seeking
care, and updates prescriptions
- Records and
updates information accurately in patient charts; completes chart prep
24-48 hours prior to patient appointment to ensure chart is complete with
notes, pathology report, test results, medications, allergies, etc.
- Logs
accurate data for specimen testing
- Cleans and
sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated supplies; disposes of
biomedical waste in accordance with OSHA standards; Empties hazardous
waste receptacles when full
- Explains
treatment procedures, medications, or physicians' instructions to patients
- Keep
supplies stocked and order as needed
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements
- Preferred
Successful completion of an accredited medical office assistant education
program
- one (1)
year of full-time customer service experience in a clinical or
administrative health care setting
- 2 years experience
with Microsoft products
OR
- High School
diploma or G.E.D. and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time clinical
medical assistant experience
- one (1)
year of full-time customer service experience in a clinical or
administrative health care setting
- 2 years experience with Microsoft products
