Job Summary 

  

The Front End Loader Operator is responsible for but not limited to general housekeeping, filling and maintaining aggregate bins, stacking product, loading and unloading product following established policies and procedures. This role involves operating a straight or articulated rubber-tired tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage/aggregate piles to feed conveyors, hoppers, or chutes.

 

Essential Functions or Duties

 

  • Operate from an established and well-known procedure under minimum supervision performing duties independently with only general direction given
  • Operate a straight or articulated rubber-tire tractor-type vehicle equipped with front-mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage/aggregate piles or bins to feed conveyors, hoppers, or chutes
  • Start engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate front end loader
  • Moves levers to lower and lift bucket and drive front end loader forward to force bucket into bulk material
  • Perform pre-and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy. Complete Equipment Inspection Report/Checklist as necessary and report any necessary repairs to supervisor as needed
  • Performs routine maintenance on loader, such as adding air to tires, lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
  • Perform all work in a safe manner complying with all plant policies at all times
  • Retrieve inventory from storage bins
  • Restock raw materials inventory
  • Loading and unloading of product
  • Lift up to 50+ pounds
  • Must be able to maintain punctuality and regular attendance must be able to work overtime as required

 

Position requires extended working hours, routinely sitting, standing, climbing and lifting as much as 90-pounds. Temperature in plant can vary from very cold in the winter months to very hot in the summer months.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Must be able to meet certification requirements for Front End Loader Operators
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment
  • Must understand and follow directions in English as required by safety and job performance standards
  • Must be able to read and write in English
  • Must have the ability to operate the Front End Loader safely following established policies and procedures
  • Must be capable of performing pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections on equipment and ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance including tire pressure, checking oil and water level
  • Must be dependable and able to maintain good attendance
  • Must have the ability to work overtime including Saturdays as required

Occasional need to walk through the Distribution/Yard and Manufacturing Plant. Occasional need to reach, bend, stoop, or move/lift material or equipment. Regular need to operate foot controls and sit on a forklift for periods of up to10 hours. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to lift, carry, stack or store materials throughout the work day. Position requires some lifting of products weighing in excess of 50+ pounds on occasion. Proper lifting techniques required.
