Recreation Specialist II: Community Centers - Full Time

Parks, Recreation and Tourism is seeking a motivated, outgoing individual that enjoys working with a diverse community that can provide exemplary customer service.

The selected candidate will primarily be responsible for daily community center operations and primary responsibilities include, monitoring, managing, programming and scheduling of community center and park facilities services, staff, supervise facility revenue collection and deposit processes, manage rentals (schedule rentals and staff, set-up/breakdown, clean-up), administers programs and activities for facility(s), while effectively communicating with the public and providing excellent customer service. Other related duties include but are not limited to:

Provides customer service to a diverse population that meets the expectations of the City's Customer Service Initiative. Interacts with the public in person, by telephone, and electronically, while following set customer service standards. Answers telephone, assists visitors; and provides public with information concerning facility operations and resources, programs, activities and policies.

Will open and close facility; supervise and coordinate the total operations to include supervising, internal and external facility reservations, registrations, memberships, after-school and summer programs, classes, leisure, water playground, senior and athletic programs. Monitors and supervises adjacent facilities to include courts, playgrounds, water playgrounds, athletic fields, parking lots, open spaces and fields, etc. Conducts facility tours. Serves as lead on site supervisor responsible for ensuring applicable rules and policies are followed. Assists independent contractors and staff with programing and participant customer service opportunities.

Supervises personnel, including interviewing, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling and disciplining as appropriate. Reviews and approves work hours, time off requests, develops and maintains work schedules of assigned personnel. Maintains personnel, timekeeping, and attendance records.

Responsible for the oversight of facility transaction processing, revenue collections and deposit reconciliations. Ensures all written reports are completed and proper accounting procedures are followed by reviewing all facility accounting related work processed by personnel. Documents and presents solutions to address variances and errors, may perform complex calculations. Works with department’s accounting team to implement, work methods, quality controls and procedures.

Will assist with routine custodial duties to include cleaning restrooms, showers, floors, kitchen, recreational equipment, and trash pick-up and disposal in facility and surrounding grounds.

Must possess the ability to set up and take down tables/chairs, volleyball standards, basketball goals, move portable bleachers, and independently lift 40lbs.

Works special events and rentals that will require working many evenings, weekends and some holidays beyond normal business hours. Events may be held at various facilities located throughout the City, as well as, other neighboring locations.
