• Develop an understanding of the intricacies found in the Chesapeake Zoning Ordinance and how to apply the provisions thereof.
• Possess the skills necessary to review preliminary and final plans for compliance with the Chesapeake Zoning Ordinance.
• Have superior communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to apply them to determinations, customer contact, associated Boards and Commissions, City Management, and co-workers.
• Become familiar with the systems that are used daily and how they work together to administer and record workflow and productivity.
• Retain a calm courteous demeanor in the face of stressful situations and dealing with angry or irrational individuals.
• Be capable of effectively explaining information, concepts, and code requirements to a wide range of persons including the general public, contractors, design professionals, and others.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain good working relationships with co-workers.
• Be capable of managing multiple tasks and projects in an organized and highly efficient manner.
