QUALIFICATIONS
- Clear and
valid Texas commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus
(S) endorsements;
- High School
Diploma or GED;
- Must be 18
years of age;
- Ability to
use a personal computer;
- Be familiar
with routing software, success ed, field trip software, and time and
attendance, or the ability to learn designated software;
- Ability to
effectively direct and manage personnel;
- Ability to
read and understand documents including District policies and department
guidelines;
- Ability to
receive and give written and verbal instructions;
- Ability to
pass alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam;
- Proven
effective organizational, communication, and analysis skills required
- Ability to
safely operate a school bus;
- Two years
experience as a school bus driver preferred;
- One year of
transportation routing experience in public schools is preferred.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- 250 days
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Directly
responsible for the success and efficiency of assigned centers' routing
and field trip program, including but not limited to the scheduling of all
routes, field trips, and other transportation requests for the assigned
center;
- Supervise
and direct the dispatch, field trip, routing, and charter drivers of the
assigned center;
- Perform
investigations and make recommendations, including, but not limited to,
employee issues and concerns, routing and field trip matters, and any
other operational matters;
- Make
recommendations for the employment of assigned personnel;
- Develop and
maintain the routing plan for the assigned center to ensure safe, timely,
and efficient runs/routes in accordance with the Texas Education Agency
and CFISD policies and department procedures;
- Effective
and frequent communication with the Transportation Department’s routing
office to ensure route modifications and updates are completed in a timely
manner;
- Effective
and frequent communication to all transportation staff, parents, students,
district staff, and the community regarding school bus routes using
district-provided programs, including School Messenger, Transfinder,
e-mail, and electronic map updates;
- Responsible
for the state route/count preparation and collection of the assigned
transportation center;
- Direct and
manage the field trip program at the assigned center, including, but not
limited to, managing the field trip selection process and investigating
field trip matters;
- Serve as
the center point of contact for field trip operational questions and
guidelines;
- Investigate
employee field trip infractions and document and manage field trip
infractions with the employee;
- Direct and
manage center dispatchers to ensure efficient and effective coverage for
all daily student transportation needs;
- Direct and
manage data entry clerk to ensure all transportation center key
performance indicators and data metrics are being tracked and analyzed in
an effective manner;
- Ensure
field trip time edit reports and any other required forms are submitted in
a timely manner to the payroll office, field trip office, and any other
pertinent office;
- Direct and
manage charter drivers at the assigned center, including schedules, route,
and field trip coverage, and ensure all assigned tasks are completed
effectively and in a timely manner;
- Regular
communication with transportation staff, parents, and school personnel to
resolve problems;
- Compile,
maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other
documents required;
- Regular and
reliable attendance is an essential job function;
- Serve as a
substitute bus driver as needed;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
