Librarian I -Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Outreach and Innovation Library Full-Time

CPL has a well-established Outreach department with a dynamic track record of providing quality and innovative services for children, teens, and adults. The candidate will serve as a member of the library’s leadership team and represent the Outreach Services Department in library system initiatives.
The candidate will manage, coordinate, and provide Outreach Services for CPL from Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Outreach and Innovation Library (COIL), a busy area library, and may perform library/clerical work at a public service desk and work on in-house programming. The candidate needs to have the aptitude for working with the public, delivering new and innovative programming to all ages, demonstrating technology, and promoting literacy and lifelong learning. This position requires a commitment to delivering outstanding service to a diverse population and promoting library services and resources. The candidate must demonstrate a strong ability to lead and inspire a positive, productive, and unified work environment.

Responsibilities include:
- Performs reference research using the library catalog, database, and other available resources.
- Provides patrons with library services such as reference selection and Reader’s Advisory services and assists patrons in the use of library equipment.
- May supervise the building in absence of Librarian II, III or Library Manager
- Supervises and evaluates subordinate staff.
- Suggests and assists with conducting library programs.
- Keeps current with emerging technologies and trends in public libraries.
- Attends staff meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve professional skills.
- Coordinates and schedules Outreach visits in the community.
- Develop and provide offsite and onsite literacy and STEM/STEAM programming.
- Promote CPL services and programs using approved social media and publicity tools.
- Maintain and select the branch Outreach, children’s, and teen’s collections.
- Performs related tasks as necessary such as recommending policies, developing procedures, and serving on CPL system-wide committees.
- Performs cash management duties and other financial transactions (fines, fees, lost items, printing, etc.).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
