We are actively seeking a hardworking, energetic, self-starter to join our Refined Oils team in Salisbury, MD as a Vegetable Oil Sales Intern. Perdue's 10-week Summer Internship program is designed to combine knowledge learned in the classroom with meaningful, real-world experiences.
Our Vegetable Oil Sales intern will be responsible for marketing vegetable oils into the domestic market space. In this role, you will assist in the negotiation and purchase and/or sale of vegetable oil with various customers and suppliers. The Vegetable Oil Sales Intern will also provide customer service and support to ensure price-competitive and timely delivery of finished goods and coordinate the administrative and logistics programs related to domestic sales.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with the purchase and sale of vegetable oils into the domestic market
- Coordinate any administrative and logistical requirements necessary
- Prepare various reports
- Coordinate with treasury regarding payments received and payments outstanding
- Work with management to trouble shoot and resolve accounts receivable issues
- Audit and perform contract maintenance regarding open balances, closing balances, rolls, etc.
- Responsible for contract entry and ensuring all confirmations are distributed to the correct parties in a timely manner
- Participate in weekly meetings/calls
- Generate new business/customers through research and internal leads
Minimum Education
- Junior or Senior currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business, AgriBusiness, Agriculture, Economics, or a related field
- 3.0 or higher
Experience Requirements
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong communication skills including written and verbal
- Must be able to work independently or in teams
- Some positions may require travel to other facilities
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings
- When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db.
- May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company
