Summary

Perdue AgriBusiness has an opportunity for a Grain Inspection Clerk - Lead at our facility located in Chesapeake, VA

This position is responsible for obtaining, testing, and grading grain samples, as well as performing housekeeping and other administrative/clerical duties as required.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect grain samples using automated or manual grain probe
  • Prepare grain samples for grading
  • Inspect and test grain for all factors and run any analytical tests required on grain sample
  • Complete grain data entry forms, receiving tickets, and other documentation as required
  • Provide customer support as required
  • Input, edit, and balance incoming truck information in grain system
  • Maintain grain inspection records.  Provide routine and ad hoc management reports as required
  • Set-up and calibrate grain testing equipment
  • Coordinate and provide direction for all activities required in the grain test house
  • Train al Grain Inspector trainees and Grain Inspectors
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties
  • Perform all work within the safety guidelines established by local, state, and federal agencies, as well as company policies
  • Perform other tasks as assigned
  • Ensure that the documented weekly and monthly Cross Checks of grain equipment and scales are completed

 

 

Minimum Education

  • High School Graduate or GED (required)
  • AA Degree in Agriculture, AgriBusiness or Business Management (Preferred)

Experience Requirements

  • 8+ years of Grain Inspection experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of standard software applications
  • Able to obtain state grain grading certification
  • TWIC application preferred

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Able to move freely throughout the division facilities to include climbing vertical heights (0 - 150'), carrying tools and equipment (0-50 pounds), exposure to extreme temperatures (0-100 Degrees Fahrenheit), humidity, (0 - 100%), noise (50db to 100db) and chemicals (MSDS sheets available)
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment to include dust masks
