LIBRARIES ADMIN

The Chesapeake Public Library (CPL) is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced full-time Library Specialist I for the Acquisitions division of Collection Management Services (CMS).

The ideal candidate will have a commitment to exemplary custom service, attention to detail required to review vendor contracts and orders, the ability to use a variety of digital platforms and software to order and acquire library materials, the ability to work collaboratively with the Collection Management Services team, to communicate effectively with vendors, internal and external customers, and Library and City departments.

Library Specialist I responsibilities include:

-Ordering audiovisual material;
-Ordering print and electronic material in the absence of Library Specialist II;
-Receiving print and audiovisual materials; unpacking boxes, verifying contents of materials and packing slips;
-Working with vendors to resolve damage materials;
-Creating requisitions in PeopleSoft;
-Receipting print and audiovisual invoices in PeopleSoft;
-Checking materials for proper processing;
-Maintaining, organizing and verifying invoices;
-Updating PeopleSoft for quarterly purchase order cleanups;
-Assisting with materials allocation and budgeting including tracking materials expenditures and purchase orders for budget reports using Excel spreadsheets;
-Setting up accounts with processing profiles for outsourcing processing of materials;
-Checking Library database for classification and status of new materials;
-Receiving and distributing incoming deliveries and mail;
-Lifting and moving boxes that can weigh around 50 pounds;
-Staying current with vendor websites;
-Working collaboratively with Library divisions and City departments;
-Attending meetings to exchange information including staff, Collection Development, vendor and PeopleSoft meetings;
-Sharing information and reporting major activities via in-person presentations to groups, meetings, conferences, systemwide emails, blog posts;
-Attending in-service training and professional classes, seminars, or conferences;
-Participating on system-wide committees;
-Performing other duties as assigned.
