City of Chesapeake, Central Fleet is hiring! Are you a detail-oriented, organized professional with a passion for fleet maintenance and financial management?

We are looking for a Business Manager to become a part of our fleet team, taking on the responsibility of supervising the administration and management of our fleet systems. Additionally, the role involves overseeing accounting and budgetary processes within our department.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and monitor the department’s budget with the support of the management team.
  • Review financial activities, including requisition requests, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Administer and manage the City’s Fleet Management Information System (FMIS), ensuring correct levels of access, data integrity, troubleshooting, and collaboration with fleet support.
  • Oversee FMIS and fuel site software, assisting Operations with procedural, software, and hardware issues.
  • Manage the City’s Motor Pool System, handling vehicle and operator additions/removals, and assisting operators with system-related concerns.
  • Develop, authorize, and implement processes and procedures to streamline tasks, achieve department goals, and implement new systems.
  • Generate reports from FMIS data and train department contacts in running reports through FMIS system.
  • Contribute to special projects, such as new product implementation, hardware upgrades, and departmental liaising.
  • Supervise staff, including selection, training, work assignment, performance evaluation, counseling, and disciplinary actions.
