Intern - Human Resources - Talent Development

The City of Chesapeake is accepting applications for a spring 2024 internship in Human Resources supporting the Learning & Talent Development team.  This internship offers practical, hands-on experience and an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills while using emerging and best practices in Adult Learning and Human Resources.  Primary duties include the following:

  • Provide support to the team, primarily designing and implementing an Employee Handbook while providing coordination and support of New Employee Orientation, trainings, and other learning activities. 
  • Assist and support course and program design, coordination, and implementation. 
  • May handle day-to-day administrative items such as responding to emails, preparing training materials, and setting up or refreshing training and meeting rooms.
  • Assist and collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments while maintaining professionalism and exceptional customer service.
