The City of Chesapeake is accepting applications for a spring 2024 internship in Information Technology (IT) providing client desktop and system engineering support. The internship will provide valuable experience in the following areas:
Client Engineering Tasks
Client Engineering Tasks
- Assist with physical IT asset inventory.
- IT asset imaging process.
- Shadow PC replacements.
- Provide IT customer service via end-user ticketing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Systems Engineering Tasks
- Building virtual servers.
- Creating and troubleshooting enterprise email system.
- Developing system documentation including system diagrams, rack diagrams, network diagrams.
- Shadowing IT subject matter experts on City wide projects.
- Auditing staff access to systems.
Client and Systems Engineering Intern will be required to conduct a meeting and give a brief presentation on what was learned during the Internship.

- Providing their own transportation to and from work,
- Arriving at the work site at the time designated by the worksite supervisor.
- Performing the tasks assigned by the vocational instructor/coordinator and the worksite supervisor in an efficient manner.
- Demonstrating honesty, punctuality, courtesy, a cooperative attitude, appropriate dress, and a willingness to learn.
- Conforming to the guidelines of the internship worksite.
