Sign Fabricator II

The City of Chesapeake, Public Works Traffic Operations Division is currently seeking a dedicated team player to fill a FT Sign Fabricator II position within the Sign Shop. The Sign Shop focuses on the fabrication, layout, and production of regulatory traffic control signs, street signs, and special event signs in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position will also supervise one FT Sign Fabricator I position.
Are you artistic, creative, and have good technical skills? Are you experienced in silk screening, computer graphics, web design, or sign fabrication? Do you enjoy working with your hands? The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to;

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to;
- Sign fabrication
- Preparing pavement markings
- Installation of other types of signs and traffic control devices
- Programming and setting up VMS (Variable Message Signs), speed radar trailers, and speed radar signs
- The position is also responsible for the designing, manufacturing, installing, repairing, inventorying material, and generating reports related to sign fabrication
- Must be able to work within a general outline and develop work methods under general supervision
