Facility Maintenance Technician II

The City of Chesapeake Public Works Department is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Facility Maintenance Technician II in our Facilities Maintenance Division. The Facilities Maintenance Division is responsible for maintenance, repair, major renovation and energy maintenance in existing buildings and facilities.
This position maintains and repairs building systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, locks, lighting, alarm systems, etc. as well as, maintains and repairs the structural components of city buildings, with special emphasis on roof repair, carpentry, and advanced structural preventative maintenance .
The ideal candidate is one who is knowledgeable in all general maintenance and structural preventative maintenance in buildings and facilities; knowledgeable of various tools, equipment used in maintenance, repair, and renovation of buildings and facilities, and safety regulations; hard working and dependable; and good communication skills;
Typical duties include but not limited to:
*Perform maintenance and repair on various types of building equipment and systems; to include HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, alarm systems, door lock/key systems, lighting, structural components, walls, floors, decks, siding, trim etc. This may include overseeing contractor work and providing quality assurance inspection of such work.
* Perform minor modifications to structures during renovation projects .
* Perform all types of normal structural maintenance & some minor construction; repair shingle and built-up roofing systems
*Maintain necessary city records and purchase materials.
