Summary

  • This role is responsible for leading project management activities around mechanical & constructional engineering scopes within the Premium Prepared Division of Perdue Foods.  The Sr. Project Manager will manage projects and project teams successfully from qualification, through estimate, pre-construction, mobilization, execution, and closeout.  This position is responsible for ensuring all project and contractual agreements are met and performed safely and professionally within established budgets and timeframes. This position is a liaison between Engineering, Operations, Finance, IT, Maintenance, Safety and Quality around design, installing, maintaining, and repairing construction related projects.                                       
  • This position is based out of our Perry, GA or Washington, IN processing facility. 
  • Relocation is required to driving distance from the facility plus 75% travel to support other assigned plants.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in initial mechanical and construction engineering conceptual development of projects.  Manages entire scope and deliverables on a daily basis.  Forecasts the resources needed to implement the project.
  • Develop performance improvement recommendations and implementation plans within budget/policy constraints and evaluate impact of change on service delivery, productivity, and cost efficiency.
  • Plan, manage, and follow through to ensure the smooth flow of activities that deliver project results and anticipate obstacles or gaps that would impact project success.  Experience with forecasting and managing spend.
  • Actively manage large-scale projects, including leading project meetings, facilitating project team interaction, managing scope, managing deadlines, managing project budgets and ensuring on-time delivery of solution.
  • Produce clear, concise and consistent deliverables to communicate problems and recommendations with attention to presentation and potential audiences.
  • Technical guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving mechanical engineering.  Trouble shoot structural issues on existing project
  • Establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications for mechanical discipline area.  Aid in creating engineering documentation and mechanical engineering analyses.
  • Review contracts, correspondence and proposals for scope conformance.  Develop and implement Contractor Management Work Processes.
  • Mentor staff and growth within the organization. 
  • Manage multiple projects from ground up construction and reconstruction projects.  Experience with building 4-2-1 masterplans.
  • Provide technical leadership and direction on a corporate or industry level in their field of expertise.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, civil engineering, structural engineering or architecture.

  •  from an accredited university.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management in the field of mechanical/construction engineering.

Experience Requirements

  • Successful completion of projects

  • Ability to read and understand plans and drawings.

  • Experience with AutoCAD.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project or other related project management software.

  • Ability to budget, plan, negotiate and control costs

  • High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions

  • PMP
  • Lean Six Sigma Certifications
  • Experience in structural analysis
  • PE License

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

  • Position is active. 
  • On the floor activities such as troubleshooting and re-design of existing systems are routine. 
  • May need to move equipment occasionally. 
  • May need to access files, supplies and equipment. 
  • Work activity is where the processing equipment is located. 
  • Work environment includes, but is not limited to, a normal office environment and construction site as well as climate extremes found in a poultry processing operation, feed mill, hatchery and a waste water treatment facility. 
  • Position requires an associate to have the ability to move throughout the complex and all facilities. 
  • When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
  • May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. 
  • May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. 
  • May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. 
  • Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. 
  • Must be able to work in confined and or permit required confined spaces and heights. 
  • Must be able to work on and or around operating equipment. Must be trained and use Lockout/Tagout
