Summary

Operates forklift, egg waste disposal equipment and clean live haul equipment in a safet and biosecure manner.

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Works independently with minimum supervision. Works in a professional and courteous manner at all times upholding professional and positive work image for self and the company.

Complies with and follow company requirements regarding bio-security, food safety, and poultry welfare programs and policies at all times.

Maintains a safe working environment.  Operates company vehicle and equipment in a safe manner, complying with the company, state and federal requirements/policies at all times.

Operates forklift to load, move, and/or unload live poultry from company or contract vehicles in a variety of temperatures, weather, and farm conditions.

Operates egg waste disposal system, unloading commercial eggs from farm racks, cleaning and disinfecting farm carts, and cleaning and disinfecting work area and other equipment.

Cleans and disinfects live haul equipment after each movement cycle or as needed in the facilities wash bay.  Operates hot water, high pressure washer to clean and disinfect live haul modules, trailers, forklift, and other equipment as necessary.

Minimum Education

High school or equivalent.

Experience Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license; certified copy of state driver's record for the past five (5) years required before being employed.  Ability to analyze and resolve problems at a functional level.  Knowledge of and ability to implement modern processes and techniques and quality improvement processes.  Knowledge of and ability to provide strong customer orientation.  Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization, including producers and a commitment to excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Ability, knowledge and commitment to put safety above everything else while achieving established goals.

Experience Preferred

Reading, writing and math skills

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Exposure to all seasonal weather conditions.  Exposure to a significant amount of airborne dust, feathers, manure ammonia gas up to 200 ppm. and humidity up to 100%.  Various chemicals, vaccines, and drugs, to be covered in MSDS and hazardous communications training.  Most frequently would be Sol-poultry disinfectant and bleach.  To move through mud, manure, dirt, grass, metal grading, concrete floors (wet or dry) with a significant amount of bending, twisting, stooping and lifting (up to 75 pounds) 4 miles daily.  To cross up/over 30” slats and stoops.  Climbing up to 8’ onto truck beds and cages and 30’ on galvanized feed bins and ladders.
