Summary
The primary purpose of the Productions Mentor is to monitor new hire ramp-in process, ensure new associates receive proper training/rotation in regard to Perdue policies, communicate company rules and regulations pertaining to safety, hazardous communication, and ergonomics and assist supervisor with reaching department goals and objectives as it relates to safety, retention and production.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure new associates receive proper training and follow-up on hazardous communication, safety, ergonomics, job rotation and other subjects with associates according to Perdue policies
- Maintain necessary paperwork and documentation for the new hire ramp-in process
- Oversee all daily activities which take place in each area of responsibility. Know and communicate all quality and production goals to associates and achieve them
- Attend and hold regular team meetings with new hires; to communicate on quality, production, and safety items
- Ensure that daily production and processing goals are met in accordance with USDA and company standards
- Hold the ability and skill to perform all jobs of each position within their area
- Works at various stations along the production line processing poultry food products.
- Adheres to all safety requirements including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters.
- Maintains clean and safe working environment.
- Participates in Company and department safety programs.
Minimum Education
- High School or equivalent not required but beneficial.
Experience Requirements
- Worked a minimum of 3 months of consecutive work history with one employer within the past 3 years.
Experience Preferred
- Experience in poultry processing/manufacturing environment preferred.
- Spanish and/or Creole speaking abilities highly preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Ability to work for 8 hours or more in a stationary position or travel on a wet, moist, dry, greasy floors which may include metal or plastic grating surfaces with up to 4 hours in a single interval.
- Ability to work from various types of ladders and/or stairs.
- Exposure to and work in temperatures of less than -40 degrees and 75 degrees with ambient humidity. Noise exposure of 110 db, and light intensity range of 50 to 100 foot candles.
- Bending, twisting, lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, sitting, and grasping varies in repetitions, distance, degrees, angle, weight, heights, longest interval of time, objects grasped, and body positions depending upon the maintenance task required. Exposure to chlorinated water (50 ppm, ammonia vapors ) 5 ppm, dry ice, caustic detergents, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, and other chemicals found in a poultry processing plant.
- Must use and / or wear protective and safety equipment required for the job.
