Equipment Operator I / Water Services/ Utility Worker (Entry Level)
Everyone does not have the ability and skill set for difficult skilled and technical work relating to the repair, installation, maintenance, and construction of municipal systems and the Department of Public Utilities recognizes that. Performs routine semi-skilled work in a variety of construction repairs, maintenance assignments, and manual labor.
Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water service lines which consists of tapping water mains and boring under roadways. Upgrades/replace meter boxes ad locate underground utilities.
Tasks also include the relocation, renewing, discontinuance, and reconnecting of water service lines.
This position is deemed an Alpha position so you must have the ability to work in any emergency situations due to weather or operational issues. Must be available during inclement weather, mandatory standby duty, and overtime as needed.
Position requires a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 1 year of hire and is subject to Random Drug/Alcohol Testing. Some night work may also be required. Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
