Nursing Supervisor / Crisis Receiving Center

The psychiatric nursing supervisor operates as part of a comprehensive 23-Hour Crisis Stabilization team that provides ongoing assessment, crisis intervention and clinical determination for level of care to individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis. This dynamic team addresses urgent behavioral health needs including but not limited to significant emotional dysregulation, disordered thought processes, substance use intoxication resulting in behavioral crisis and environmentally de-stabilizing events that require multi-disciplinary crisis intervention. 


The psychiatric nursing supervisor will provide oversight to all aspects of the nursing department and provide direct client care as needed. The selected individual will be responsible for providing person-centered, trauma-informed care to these individuals with the goal of stabilization at the least restrictive level of care and an emphasis on post crisis growth. An ideal candidate will work well with multiple internal and community stakeholders including police, community partners and other internal medical staff to coordinate care and safety in the community. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with psychiatric conditions as well as knowledge of care coordination, medication administration, lab administration, supply inventory and crisis management skills. 

Typical Tasks:
Completes direct client care as needed to include nursing assessments, diagnostic testing (drug screens, lab tests), administration of medication and health literacy counseling. 
Assists in developing policies and procedures for the nursing department.
Participates in hiring and onboarding of new nursing staff.
Provides oversight to nursing department and supervision to staff.
Monitors and orders nursing-related supplies.
Maintains the nursing schedule for a 24-hour program.
Conducts quality assurance audits.
Serves as a liaison with community physicians, pharmacies, laboratories, and other providers.
Completes clinical documentation in electronic health record within the time frame required. 
Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position has a high level of engagement with clients, community stakeholders and internal partners. The nurse will have face-to-face interactions with clients at the CRC as well as with other staff in the department. Ongoing coordination of care with family/supports and referral sources will be an integral part of the position. The candidate will be able to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
