The person holding this position will be responsible for:
Applying established bookkeeping and accounting principles and techniques to governmental accounting transactions.
Maintaining a working knowledge of state and local government fiscal regulations, policies and procedures, as well as office accounting methods and procedures.
Demonstrating the ability to operate a personal computer, associated business and agency software including spreadsheets, a calculator, and other office machines.
Issuing EBT Vault Cards to clients, when needed. Keeping an inventory of EBT cards, compile monthly EBT Issuance Report. Maintaining a supply of EBT Vault Cards, including ordering them.
Compiling a weekly Report of Collections as monies are collected and recorded in the Official Receipt Book.
Demonstrating the ability to organize and effectively process and maintain financial records and files and prepare reports from them.
Analyzing and recording information and balancing figures.
Understanding and applying laws, regulations and policies to the maintenance of financial records; verifying documents and forms for accuracy and completeness.
Typing accurately at a good speed.
Filing records in the proper order. Filing records in the inactive file room. Purging inactive records at the appropriate time, following guidelines set forth by the Library of Virginia.
Exercising independent judgement, discretion and initiative in completing assignments and in dealing with other employees and the general public.
Answering the phone and directing clients to the proper worker. Greeting clients who come to the office seeking assistance.
The employee shall be required to drive agency vehicles as needed.
