The City of Chesapeake is recruiting a Business Application Specialist (BAS) I to join the Procurement team. A BAS is the business process expert in a department that has enough technical system knowledge to translate business needs into technology/system needs. The successful candidate will have the ability to learn the business processes of the procurement department to translate them into PeopleSoft, the financial software system. The BAS will identify the procurement team needs and figure out how to make the software system meet those needs. This involves close coordination with the Information Technology department. The City will provide the selected candidate with special training in the PeopleSoft system. This is an excellent opportunity in a public service position that straddles the technology and business process world!
