The Chesapeake Fire Department is seeking an experienced and customer service oriented individual to plan, develop, and update the City's Emergency Operations Plan and annexes, including predicting impacts on identified target hazards and infrastructures, as well as population from natural and man-made disasters.

- Assists in the planning and implementation of all emergency services and emergency preparedness plans and programs. Assists in developing educational programs, promotes public awareness and prepares presentation media. Assists with the activation and management of the Emergency Operations Center during incidents.
- Plans and develops emergency management programs using predictions and model of various natural and man-made disasters (High degree of knowledge regarding emergency management and program development, Ability to organize and perform work independently with little supervision. Ability to develop and implement procedures, access and retrieve information from a computer, ability to communicate effectively in writing and disseminate information.);
- Inventory, assess, document and analyze resource and logistical needs throughout the City, and identify needs to support emergency operations (Ability to correctly and effectively use equipment, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, skill level and knowledge used for accuracy, ability to produce professional technical and statistical reports and documents.);
- Develops educational training programs to promote internal and external public awareness, and enhance training for diverse audiences to increase emergency readiness and efficiency (Ability to access and retrieve information from a computer, ability to use PowerPoint and other computer training equipment; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, ability to disseminate information effectively.);
- Conducts or attends professional meetings for the exchange of information (Ability to develop and provide oral and written instructions and information, ability to communicate effectively.);
- Assists with operations and management of Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during incidents (Organizational skills, ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, ability to work effectively under stressful situations.);
- Assists with monitoring, coordinating and dissemination of severe weather warnings and notification of disaster alerts (Ability to apply knowledge of NOAA weather alert system, ability to prepare press releases and other written and/or oral reports and notices in a timely and professional manner.)
