Staff Psychiatrist - $10K Sign-on Bonus
CIBH MENTAL HLTH SVC
The City of Chesapeake’s, Chesapeake Integrated Healthcare is currently recruiting a Staff Psychiatrist who has experience with adolescents and adults. Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare (CIBH), the behavioral healthcare agency for the City of Chesapeake, VA. (CIBH) provides mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual disability services for Chesapeake residents. This critical position, reporting to the Medical Director, provides psychiatric services to clients including comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and psychotherapy, medical evaluation services and medication, clinical documentation, and reporting, on an as-needed basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
- Collaborates with employed medical staff.
- Follows program policies, procedures, goals, and objectives related to the delivery of psychiatric services to ensure they are meeting standards of psychiatric care in the community.
- Participates in medical staff meetings and follows best practices and efficiencies. Supports the vision of CIBH and demonstrates flexibility to adapt to change.
- Inputs treatment recommendations into CIBH’s electronic health record on the same day and assures that documentation is of high quality and meets the required standards for CPT coding and data collection by third parties.
- Complies with the Medical Services policies and procedures including the use and storage of medication samples and indigent medications.
- Meets productivity standards set by the Psychiatric Services program.
- May participate in treatment planning conferences and/or provides input relevant to the development or revising of the client's plan of care.
- Consults with other CIBH psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychiatric nurses, clinicians, case managers, etc. to ensure good and prudent treatment of the clients.
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, determine diagnosis, prescribe medication, monitor medication to include side effects, adjust medications as necessary, order necessary diagnostic testing and labs related to the treatment of the clients, evaluate lab results and decide appropriate psychiatric intervention.
- Provides clinical documentation related to service providers as required by Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services licensure, CIBH policy, and for billing purposes.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Excellent oral communications skill as the work involves the careful and precise use of language as the incumbent interfaces with a wide variety of staff and customers of the agency.
- Excellent written communication skills as the duties involve the continuous preparation of clinical records, insurance, and other reimbursement forms, evaluation and related reports for local, state, and federal health and human service, law enforcement and criminal justice agencies, and correspondence to clients, client's families, and/or other institutions.
- Knowledge and experience in the use of Electronic Medical Records to assist in developing efficient and effective documentation of psychiatric/medical services.
- Extensive, updated knowledge and skills in the area of psychiatric care/treatment, management of medication, appropriate medical and psychiatric follow-up, good communication, and good staff relational skills.
