Position Overview

CRH America’s Materials- Texas Region is searching for an experienced and business-centric VP Human Resources to drive people and performance initiatives for our America’s Materials business.  Reporting directly to the Regional President you will work with the leadership team to develop HR strategy to support business growth while also becoming a trusted partner to the business.  You will be responsible for driving execution of strategies around Performance Management, Talent Acquisition, Organizational Structure, Policy and Procedure, Talent Development and Culture.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Partner with Regional President, CFO, Operations and Business Leaders to develop and implement strategic HR/business objectives.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the HR programs in the Region, to align with the overall corporate HR initiatives.
  • Champion the CRH Inclusion and Diversity initiative to build inclusion capability and increase diversity in key responsibilities.
  • Keep leadership staff informed of changes in HR matters.
  • Ensure that the facilities in the region comply with current applicable federal and state employment regulations regarding wages, overtime calculations, work hours, workers/unemployment compensation, etc.
  • Major focus on talent development and performance management tools and utilization.
  • Work closely with Regional Business Leaders to identify and develop high potential individuals.                                  
  • Understand the business and HR’s impact on the results.
  • Partner with corporate to effectively implement initiatives while providing guidance and support locally.
  • Drive accurate and timely completion of HR processes including performance management, salary planning, annual training, affirmative action, etc.
  • Counsel leadership teams on development and implementation of effective policies and procedures which support achievement of company goals in a manner that is consistent of core values.
  • Provide guidance to managers regarding employee relations issues.
  • Ensure consistent, timely, and accurate application and compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Support any pending legal action including arbitration, EEOC, NLRB, ULP, and/or third-party lawsuits.
  • Discover, create, and lead sharing of best practices as well as identify issues or opportunities in the operations and develop solutions to address.
  • Work directly with operations to create and implement meaningful succession strategies and development plans that continue to feed and grow the talent pipeline.
  • Assess, coach, develop, and mentor site HR Representatives.
  • Proactively network and recruit to build professional network in anticipation of talent needs within the company.
  • Monitor key business metrics and utilize workforce analytics to identify areas of concern and support the creation and execution of action plans to address any threats.
  • Work with leadership teams to develop local culture improvements.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with HR specialty or focus preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification desired.
  • 8+ years of progressive Human Resources with demonstrable success as HR business partner.
  • 5+ years of HR Management with a large employee population, preferably with a multi-location employer.
  • Experienced in organizational structure design.
  • Excellent conflict management skills and the demonstrated ability to problem solve and effectively diffuse highly charged situations.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Working knowledge and experience in talent management, talent development and succession planning processes and programs.
  • Demonstrated success in all Human Resources functional areas within a fast-paced, construction and materials environment is essential.
  • Must be willing to travel approximately 30% - 40%, mostly within region, with peak periods of higher travel as needed.

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
  • Demonstrated, effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to operate office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, copiers, ten key adding machine, printers, etc.
  • Proficiency in personal computers/word processing, spreadsheets/databases, and relevant software packages.
  • Ability to analyze issues independently.
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
