This hiring event will fill Corrections Officer positions at Haynesville Correctional Complex and Haynesville Correctional Unit 17. The candidate's physical location and assignment will be determined by agency business need.
Corrections Officers contribute to the agency’s public safety mission by providing for the safety and security of the public, staff, and supervisees by ensuring effective and safe custody and control along with compliance with policy and procedure. This is successfully accomplished through the use of evidence based practices and principles that enhance effective communication strategies and role modeling as part of collaborative multi-disciplinary teams addressing supervisees needs.
Officers provide security over adult supervisees at the institution and while in transport; supervise the daily activities of supervisees while observing and recording their behavior and movement to ensure their safe and secure confinement. They interact with the visitors, staff, supervisees and public to maintain orderly and secure operations.

- Qualified applicants will be invited for an interview after successfully applying for this position. During this time, applicants can expect to complete the interview, background processing and, if successful, could leave the facility with a contingent job offer.
- Please bring your Driver’s License, Social Security Card, Highest Degree/Diploma/GED, and for military candidates the DD-214 Member to the interview.
- Corrections Officers are scheduled to work only 14 days a month! Shifts are 12 hours beginning at either 5:40am or 5:40pm. Corrections Officers work a 28-day cycle scheduled as follows: 5-days working, 5-days off, 5-days working, 4-days off, 4-days working, and 5-days off (may vary by facility).

Please Note: All persons that are newly hired, rehired, transferred, promoted, or demoted into a Corrections Officer position must serve a new 12-month probationary period. This excludes current Virginia Department of Corrections security employees possessing an active DCJS Corrections Officer Certification.
